I recently found myself in desperate need of new glasses. 👓😩✨
I recently found myself in desperate need of new glasses. My old pair felt outdated, and with a fresh prescription from my optometrist, I was eager to find something modern and comfortable. The thought of spending a fortune at a traditional optical shop was daunting, so I started looking online. I'd heard whispers about the convenience of virtual try-ons and the competitive pricing of online retailers, and the idea of finding a stylish new look without leaving my home truly appealed to me. It felt like a perfect solution for my busy schedule. As Miranda Miskowiec mentioned in her experience, "The process of virtually trying on, buying and getting the frames was very easy," which sparked my hope that my journey would be just as smooth. I wanted a hassle-free experience that delivered on both style and function, addressing my pain point of needing a chic yet practical everyday accessory.
My search quickly led me to Cinily Eyewear. Their website was user-friendly, and the sheer variety of frames was impressive. I spent a good hour using their virtual try-on feature, which, surprisingly, gave me a pretty good sense of how different styles looked on my face. I narrowed it down to a few options before finally settling on the NYWOOH Myopia Glasses. The oversized square design seemed to perfectly blend classic and contemporary, exactly what I was looking for. While browsing, I did notice a few reviews expressing concerns about customer service and delivery times, with John Mitchell noting, "I ordered glasses on May 4th and was assured they would be finished on May 11th. It is now May 26th and I keep getting emails apologizing for the delay. I tried multiple times to call customer service and finally spoke to someone in India who was absolutely no help at all." This made me a little apprehensive, but the attractive pricing and vast selection at Cinily Eyewear ultimately swayed my decision. I placed my order in early 2024, crossing my fingers for a smooth delivery.
The anticipation during the waiting period was palpable. Every day, I found myself checking my email for shipping updates. When the package finally arrived a week later, in late 2024, I tore into it with excitement. The packaging itself was neat and compact, a simple yet effective box protecting the contents. Inside, nestled securely in a sturdy case, were my new NYWOOH Myopia Glasses. My first impression was overwhelmingly positive. The frames felt solid and well-constructed, with a smooth finish that exuded quality. They looked exactly as they did on the website, matching my expectations perfectly. I put them on, and the clarity was immediate. It was a wonderful feeling, much like the positive experience Shina Madamori shared in her review, simply stating, "Thank you so much for sharing this review, Shina! We are so glad you had a great experience," echoing that initial satisfaction.
In terms of actual usage, the NYWOOH Myopia Glasses have largely exceeded my expectations. The vision correction is spot-on, making everything sharp and clear, whether I'm reading a book or working on my laptop. The frames are surprisingly lightweight, making them comfortable for extended wear throughout my workday and into the evening. I've received numerous compliments on their stylish design, and they truly elevate my everyday look. I particularly love how easily they transition from a professional setting to a casual weekend outing. They truly solved my problem of needing a versatile and fashionable pair of glasses. This seamless integration into my daily life is a testament to their quality and design.
However, my journey wasn't entirely without a few bumps, and this is where some of the broader customer experiences I've read about really resonated with me. While my prescription initially felt correct, I did, like Miranda Miskowiec, find myself spending "a lot of time adjusting the temple tips to get them to stay on my face without sliding down my nose." It was a minor inconvenience, but it highlighted a gap in the online purchase experience. More significantly, I encountered a crucial issue similar to one detailed by another customer, Steve Greenbaum, whose comprehensive review truly highlighted potential pitfalls for online eyewear purchases:
"We ordered a pair of glasses for our 12-year-old after he found them using the virtual try-on, but he said he had trouble seeing with them. We went back to the doctor to check everything, and he informed us that the pupil distance (PD) was incorrect. The PD is typically measured by the person from whom you purchase the glasses, not the doctor. The Cinily Eyewear site does not prompt you to provide the PD number, and if you don’t know to provide it, they will just assume a value of 62 (adult) or another value for kids. Of course, that means the value will be wrong for many buyers.
Please know you will never be able to reach a human at Cinily Eyewear and have a real phone conversation if you call them, so plan on frustration if your glasses are not correct. Email interactions are too slow, causing the process to drag on. I’m glad to say that when I wrote my original review, Cinily Eyewear saw it and called me to offer corrected lenses. I took them up on that offer, but getting the order reprocessed took longer than expected. The link I was provided to do the exchange didn’t work, and there was no way to reach the person who had made the offer. Most emails take a couple days to get a response, and I felt like I was starting the conversation over each time.
Note that if you need to exchange the glasses, you must first send them back before they will start working on your replacement. Therefore, you won’t have any glasses while you wait for a replacement.
The glasses, once remade, are working out well for us."
While my PD was thankfully correct, I did experience a slightly longer-than-expected processing time for my order, echoing some of John Mitchell's and Lillian Slater's frustrations. Lillian, for instance, mentioned, "We ordered glasses on January 17 and they said they should be shipped within a week. Here we are Feb 18 and they are STILL 'In production' despite the fact that we’ve reached out three times and they said they were 'marking them as urgent and requesting they rush the order'." My situation wasn't as extreme, but it certainly made me wish for more proactive communication. The lack of a readily available human customer service representative, as highlighted by Ann Nelson, "it is not possible to talk to a human being," is a definite area for improvement. While Cinily Eyewear offers detailed support online and through chat, sometimes a direct conversation is simply irreplaceable for complex issues or immediate concerns, especially when dealing with something as essential as vision.
In conclusion, my experience with the NYWOOH Myopia Glasses from Cinily Eyewear has been largely positive, though not without minor hiccups. The quality, style, and affordability of the glasses themselves are fantastic – truly an excellent value. I would recommend them for anyone looking for stylish, budget-friendly eyewear, especially if you're confident with your prescription details, including your PD. However, be prepared for a predominantly digital customer service experience and factor in potential (though not guaranteed) delays or a need for self-adjustment, as Miranda Miskowiec pointed out. While I didn’t face the "Worst experience buying glasses I've ever had" as Steele Rutherford did, which led to "defective" glasses, my journey wasn't entirely flawless. Despite the minor adjustments and a few moments of anticipation, the final product is a pair of glasses I genuinely love wearing every day in 2025.
